Love Is Project x The White Feather Foundation Collaboration - Julian Lennon

Imagine that. 

You never know who watches your Shark Tank episode! When one door closes, another opens: Mark Cuban said he didn't see how he could add value as an investor, but someone just as important wanted to get involved with us. After our episode aired, we were thrilled that Julian Lennon, founder of the non-profit The White Feather Foundation, reached out to us to collaborate on a collection. As they say, birds of a feather flock together and we both were already working in many of the same countries. Fast forward seven months later, and we couldn't be more excited to launch our TWFF x Love Is Project artisan-made exclusive pieces from Kenya, Colombia and Indonesia. 

The pieces in this collection symbolize our commitment to making the world a better place through meaningful projects that support and benefit people and environments all over the world!

Each piece of handmade jewelry in the collection is a variation on a feather. Feathers have an important significance to Julian Lennon and many Indigenous tribes. We love that the designs for these exclusive pieces are influenced by the culture of the country they were made in!

Meet the TWFF Feather Engraved Camel Bone Necklace! We believe in a no waste philosophy, so each pendant is hand carved from upcycled  camel bone feather pendant with suede necklace. Made in Kibera, Kenya. 

Here's the Black & White TWFF Feather Necklace! We decided to create a white feather inspired beaded necklace pendant with the artisans we work with in Colombia. Feathers are used culturally and ceremonially within the Indigenous Embera Chami tribe that makes and beads these creations.

Then something happened to me, whilst on tour with the album,Photograph Smile, in Australia. I was presented with a White Feather by an Aboriginal tribal elder, from The Mirning People, which definitely took my breath away.

The White Feather Foundation was created for the purpose of giving a voice and support to those who cannot be heard. The tribal elders asked for my help, as I could bring awareness to their plight and to others who were suffering the same. Having had the White Feather bestowed upon me, I knew this endeavor was to be part of my destiny. TWFF Area of Giving: The Preservation of Indigenous Cultures

The harmony of our natural world lies in the balance between Mother Gaia and her inhabitants. With respect for the wisdom and experience of the Indigenous people who have loved and cultivated the land for thousands of years, we can together conserve our shared resources for future generations to come. Past projects to help tribal communities include the preservation of sacred land sites, clean water wells and the implementation of sustainable water systems and pandemic relief through food, sanitation supplies and medical testing.

In Kenya, Ben Omondi is an old friend from Kibera, a neighborhood unfortunately known as one of the largest slums in Kenya. Ben trains and employs artisans in the art of upcycling waste into products; their motto is "No Waste." You'd never know that our TWFF Feather Engraved Camel Bone Necklace was upcycled!

In Bali, Indonesia, our silversmith artisans remain true to their heritage of centuries-old techniques that have been handed down from father to son and now shared by a mother and daughter team. Besides making the TWFF Silver Feather Cuff, they are the minds behind many of the products in our Love Luxe Collection.
