    Meet Our New Amor Collection

    The newest member of the LOVE bracelet family comes to us from Ecuador, along the Amazon River.

    Paddle along the vast, lush banks of the Amazonian rainforest, and you’ll come upon the Highlands of Otavalo. Straddling the northern and southern hemispheres (and smack dab on the equator) live 128 Kichwa communities, an ancient culture that comprises over 6 million people in Ecuador. I spent days canoeing the Amazon River, meeting accomplished Kichwa artisans in their homes, and learning about the importance of a ubiquitous red seed called “enamora,” which means “to give love” in the local language. These enamora seeds are found in each of the nine countries that make up the Amazon region: Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Guyana, French Guiana, and Suriname.

    Incan lore made the colorful enamora seed a powerful protector against negative energy, a legacy that’s made its way into modern Kichwa culture. Bracelets made from enamora seeds are commonly given as marriage proposals and as first gifts to babies to help protect against negative thoughts and bless new unions. We just knew we had to incorporate these enamora seeds into our newest LOVE bracelet collection.

    Ecuador artisans at work for the Love Is Project

    We’re partnering with theSani Eco-Lodge and Sani Warmi, a local women’s group, in Parque Nacional Yasuni to create these meaningful new bracelets. This 31-strong group of women have worked for 10 years to provide health, education for kids, transport, and food expenses for the communities living in Parque Nacional Yasuni, which is a four-hour canoe ride from the nearest city. We’re proud to support these amazing artisans who put so much LOVE into what they do.
